C. fallax
Eastern black trumpet is one of our absolute favorite native species to forage and eat. This wine was actually inspired by us wanting to have black trumpets as a label! Idea being a savory, earthy, woodsy red, which is pretty on the dot for what we came up with in this super unique wine. While this wine will be back in the future, there’s no 2024 vintage, so stock up while you can! The addition of just a tiny amount of aronia berries boosted the structure of this wine to make it perhaps one of the largest body reds to come out of a cold climate, and necessitating the longest cellaring time of our wines (well, we’ll see, the 2024 B. lenta may need a while too for different reasons). Our friend Bertil at Bonde Fine Wines thought we should charge a lot more for this one than we’re going to end up selling it for ;)
