G. frondosa
This has quickly become our most iconic red. It was originally inspired from our time helping a harvest in Italy where we saw destemmed (semi carbonic) Sangiovese transform into a playful, vibrant easy-drinker. We set about thinking about what a similar wine would look like made from cool climate fruit and landed on a blend of Marquette for fruitiness, Blaufrankisch for complementary fruit as well as a bit more bite and spice, and Riesling for vibrancy and delicate aromatics. This red never sees any oak, being aged in concrete. It's intended to best be enjoyed with a bit of chill. The dominant flavors here lean blueberry, hence the blue huckleberry label. Some may question modifying such a hit, but we’re always looking to make tweaks to improve our wines—The 2024 is a bit more structured and aromatic, introducing skin contact on a bit less Riesling, a higher ratio of Blaufrankisch to Marquette, plus some whole cluster fruit.
