R. typhina
Our flagship rosé, inspired by the darkly pigmented, vibrantly flavored and juicy rosatos of Italy rather than the delicate and mineral rosés many are familiar with from Provence. Staghorn sumac is everywhere in summers of New England and well known for its ability to make “pink lemonade,” making it the obvious choice for a crushable rosé. This cuvée is really an exercise in harnessing the best aspects of the Cornell hybrid Arandell (vibrant red cherry notes), while steering away from its Achilles Heel (a very green, stemmy tasting methoxypyrazine character). The 2024 takes our learnings from the 2023 and exceeds all expectations on what a cold climate rosé can be—it’ll definitely be one to stock up on.
