R. rugosa

This is a muscat lover's dream, so we had to name it after something iconically fragrant. Technically, Rosa Rugosa or beach rose is not classified as native, but is found all over the beaches of New England (while not as invasive as other species like multiflora rose, don’t shy away from foraging the flowers and rose hips as it does have the potential to out-compete native species! Check with the Native Plant Trust for some great resources on native plants in New England). Similarly, this wine does some masquerading. The grape blend is inspired by classic Alsatian pairings but comprised almost entirely of native grape hybrids. The result? Virtually indistinguishable from a top-notch skin contact muscat of Alexandria, which we're not going to complain about since it's one of our favorite grapes and is indeed a distant relative of grapes involved. This orange wine new to the 2024 is poised to be an overnight classic if early customer feedback is any indication. If we were to play favorites, we may even go so far as to say this is our favorite wine we've made to date ;)
